Knetzgau: Main Information Centre, Feasibility study and concept development

The underlying concept behind the Main Information Centre (MIZ 359) in Knetzgau is creating a permanent information centre which provides practical learning focussing on the Main River, a natural element which, for many centuries, has characterised northern Bavaria and provided a lifeline along its 500 kilometres.

MIZ 359 aims to convey an experiential and diverse history of the landscape and culture, both inside and outside its walls, thanks to the range of exhibits and its close connection to the Main. By networking with other concepts in and regarding the Main region, the centre intends to cater to a nationwide audience. The working group, consisting of Erlebniskontor GmbH, magma architecture and A24 Landschaft, developed initial concepts concerning content, architecture and open space and analysed the economic issues.
